study abroad

September 5, 2008

Are you sick of the humdrum of your day job? Have you ever imagined yourself on a tropical getaway when you were supposed to be working? Have you ever wondered why your life is so monotonous and stressful even though you should be happy with your position? Maybe it is time you made a drastic change to your entire lifestyle, beginning with your environment. Perhaps you need to consider working abroad.

What if your daily commute included a walk on the beach? What if it was summer year around? What if your commute, instead of involving traffic jams, involved you cruising along the sunlit seashore with nothing but a warm ocean breeze obstructing your path?

This may sound too good to be true, but it is not even close to an exaggeration of what is possible with a career abroad. Working abroad is as easy as finding a job in an exotic location of your choice, getting the paperwork done, and buying a plane ticket. You obviously need to make some important lifestyle and living considerations before you quit your day job, but finding a job overseas is not as daunting a task as one may think at first glance.

When working abroad, you will have lifestyle opportunities that most dream about. Overseas, especially in the Caribbean, companies are always in need of skilled employees to fulfill positions which are as diverse and varied as any society in any city. Working abroad may offer brand new opportunities not only in regards to environment and lifestyle, but even in job position and promotions. A new career in a new country can mean a second chance for you to be the best at what you do.

One of the obvious benefits of working abroad is the vacation like atmosphere. You will react with people who are in a good mood and on vacation on a regular basis. You will probably meet tourists from all over the world, and your social life will be more fluid than you ever dreamed possible.

study abroad in australia

September 5, 2008

The benefits are numerous and just to name a few, experiencing different cultures first hand, meet new people, improve your resume, improve your confidence and getting paid for it. So the next question is, where to find work abroad. How do you start?

I would suggest you NOT just focus on one type of program but instead check out all options namely internships, work programs and volunteer programs that is out there.

Having said that I am sure that once you do, you might get a bit confused by all the information floating around.

So here I have made it as simple an explanation as possible.

Intern programs

Not all internships are paid. Only those in the technical interns program may be paid, and I say ‘maybe’. It depends on the organization. Skills are required for a particular position as well as some knowledge on the particular industry that you wish to join. Internships tend to be related to your study or career.

Work programs

In work programs, you will definitely be paid. Positions are available in many sectors like service, tourism, teaching and even freelancing. Skills are often not necessary except for a select few, example ski instructor. Getting a job in this sector is much easier as there are many options to choose from.

Volunteer programs

Volunteers are rarely paid but the work leaves you feeling more than rewarded. Many join volunteer programs in search of inner peace then for money. Skill are generally not required, just your time and commitment. It is often hard work so be prepared if you choose to volunteer.

If you no longer want to put up with 9-5 jobs and want to get out of the rat race, then pack your bags and get ready to explore the other side of the world. Working abroad is really not that scary as many people think it is. In fact, for many it is a life changing experience. Take it from me, I have done it for many years.

Student loans

September 4, 2008

Student loans consolidation is a concept which is designed to help students repay their multiple education loans they have taken during studies. Most students land into deep debt and have problem managing various loans as well as face financial difficulties in making the monthly payments. The solution of these problem is student debt consolidation; here all your outstanding student loans are merged into one loan with just one payment to make every month. This new loan is offered at a lower and fixed rate of interest, lower monthly payments, various payment options and longer tenures.

Why Consolidate?

Student loans consolidation offers various benefits. The rate of interest is lower than all your consolidation loans and thus you pay lower monthly payments. The interest rates are locked, therefore it is shielded from the inflation rates. The loans have a flexible repayment options and no fees, charges or penalties. Also there are no credit checks and co-signers required.

Your monthly payments could be lowered by around 54%. You typically have 10 years to repay your loans, but in student loans consolidation your tenure can be extended to up to 30 years.

You will have to be eligible to get the student federal loan consolidation. Some criteria to be fulfilled are, you must be in the six –month grace period after completing studies, after which the repayments start. The other case is that you have started paying the installments already. Then, your total loans outstanding must be at least $7500. You have taken loan from different lenders and you can consolidate your loan just once.

Which Loans Are Eligible:

There are also certain loans that can be consolidated under the student loans consolidation programs:

  • Federal Subsidized And Unsubsidized Stafford Loans
  • Direct Subsidized And Unsubsidized Loans
  • Direct and Federal PLUS Loans
  • Federal Consolidation Loans
  • Guaranteed Student Loans
  • Federal Insured Student Loans (FISL)
  • Federal Perkin Loans
  • Federal Supplemental Loans For Students
  • Auxiliary Loans To Assist Students
  • National Direct Student Loans(NDSL)
  • Health Education Assistance Loans
  • National Defence Student Loans
  • Loans For Disadvantaged Students
  • Nursing Student Loans(NSL)
  • You can get these loans from any bank or financial institution which participates in the Federal Family Education Loan program. The student debt consolidation loan term and conditions should be verified with your lender. The interest rate offered is generally the same by all the lenders but some lenders also offer future discounts if your repayment record is good and also discounts if your monthly payment is to be debited directly from your bank account.

    overseas education

    September 4, 2008

With alcohol education we always speak to the fact that we want to avoid the risk altogether, so we counsel against drinking in any way until you’re of age. It’s exactly the same with drug education
Karen Hardee, vice-president of research for Population Action International told AFP that statistics cast doubt on “abstinence only” education. The latter will have a new A* grade to help distinguish the very best exam candidates. But the head of the Association of School and College Leaders, has warned that too much change is happening all at once Education is all about opportunities — a good education opens doors. It is the single best way for anyone, regardless of background, to do well and to gain the skills they need to succeed at whatever they want to do,” said Schools Secretary Ed Balls.

Universal has helped thousands of hopeful students go abroad. In order to make sure that they are always on top of their game, they routinely implement the latest learning methods and materials such as the 25 new widescreen laptops in their resource room. Universal also efficiently assists students by having counsellors who specialise in certain countries. Rather than speaking with a counsellor who tells you vague details about the process and university options in many different countries, at Universal, different counsellors lend their expertise for different countries.

    Culture Education

    September 3, 2008

The per capita number of people with higher education is used to determine how educated a population is. One of the main tenets of our liberal, egalitarian order is that everyone is entitled to an education to at least a high school graduation level and often even further thanks to government programs and loans. American children are taught growing up that they can be anything, even President of the United States. Nothing is further from the case. Not all children are created equal as even children understand. Some naturally excel at sports, others at music. Yet for some reason American education policy refuses to accept the reality that some children are simply better at the core subjects in school than others and wishes to paper over these obvious differences. The classic Secretary Spellings asked colleges, lenders, and guarantee agencies to “act now to assure students and parents that we have their best interests at heart in providing competitive student loans The platform promises that an Obama administration would create programs to recruit and retain teachers, including efforts to experiment with new ways of compensating them; expand access to charter schools Some of us are parenting in inter racial families and some of us are parenting trans culturally and others are parenting children who may physically look like us but have children with different ethnic origins than we do offshore outsourcing and the debate over whether an IT labor shortage even exists. During a panel discussion on this topic at our Premier 100 IT Leaders Conference last month, we polled the audience to see whether.

    GRE test

    September 2, 2008

The purpose of the GRE test is to help assess if students are equipped with enough knowledge to continue on into graduate studies. Many students facing the exam often worry about GRE preparation and have to consider how they will study for the GRE test. One suggested, highly effective method is to take numerous GRE practice tests and concentrate on which part of the exam you struggled with the most. A hot new site that makes the entire GRE preparation The return on the EMBA investment is life-long. The programme gives you the opportunity to connect with successful and international executives in other industries you would never normally meet, and create very strong affinities with these people The EMBA is helping me to understand the business I work in at a much higher level, ensuring that I am better prepared for a senior management position Applied Hydrology at Punjab University says I need internet for searching, my study hours get really disturbed because of massive and infrequent load shedding, adding that small dams could be the instant way out for the problem, small power houses could help generating electricity to great extent

    Online Degrees

    September 1, 2008

These courses were and are till date are a boon for all the business professionals who had always wanted to procure an MBA degree but could hardly spare out any time to attend lengthy lectures at the university. However with time the lure of online education has witnessed a surge. So more and latest courses are being introduced. These courses that range from the field of humanities to commerce and computers,

All students have their challenges, and this school has tried to integrate and support those with special needs. This may pull down standardized test scores a tad, but provides a more important lesson to our kids in the importance of inclusion. And the school works to create a safe.
There is no streaming. Students start school at age 7 and go through until age 16, before beginning secondary school or vocational college. All schools have to take all students who want to attend, regardless of their ability or behaviour. Which is one reason that Finland has few private schools, even though they get a government grant equal to the payment to the state schools.
The survey, conducted by pollster Harris/Decima, suggests education is a factor in determining the number of hours Canadians work, with 21 per cent who work 11 or more hours a day having no education above high school, compared with 14 per cent of those with post-secondary education.
The evidence for making a national commitment to innovation in educationis compelling. Today, many of the most promising solutions are emerging from entrepreneurial organizations that embrace freedom and accountability. Indeed, such social entrepreneurs represent a growing force. They have started nimble, typically nonprofit organizations that work in partnership with creative mayors and school superintendents.

Mexican Supreme Court upholds legalized abortion law

MEXICO CITY — In a lopsided ruling, Mexico’s Supreme Court on Thursday upheld a year-old law in Mexico City legalizing abortions during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.

The court rejected arguments by abortion opponents that the law violated the Mexican Constitution, whose protections they said covered embryos. A majority of justices said overturning the law would block the right of women to end pregnancies in the early weeks.

The vote was 8 to 3 to uphold the measure, approved in April 2007 by Mexico City’s leftist-dominated government. Opponents needed support from at least eight of the 11 justices to overturn the law.

The ruling is likely to encourage similar legislative drives outside Mexico City, where abortion remains illegal except in certain cases, such as pregnancies resulting from rape or incest.

Abortion rights activists said the ruling set a precedent for state legislatures to pass measures legalizing abortion. The leftist Democratic Revolution Party, which governs Mexico City, has signaled plans to push for such laws.

Mexico City lawmakers passed the measure after proponents argued that removing criminal penalties would make abortions more widely available to women of all social classes while reducing the risk of death or injury from procedures performed in underground clinics.

Illegal abortions have long been widely available, though many poor women seeking to terminate pregnancies have resorted to buying herbs from markets or prescription drugs obtained from pharmacists without a doctor’s signature.

Since passage of the Mexico City law, hundreds of women have flocked to the capital for abortions in its public clinics. City officials say more than 12,600 women have had abortions since the law was approved.

The measure has saved lives, they say, citing a drop in the number of women who have died during the procedures.

But foes attacked the law as immoral and a violation of Mexican law and international conventions aimed at guaranteeing human rights. They also argued that Mexico City hospitals were overstretched and therefore unable to provide proper medical attention to women seeking abortions.

Many gynecologists in the public hospitals declared themselves as “conscientious objectors” to the law and refused to carry out the procedures. That has increased the workload of doctors who do perform abortions.

    MBA

    August 28, 2008

When the position first became vacant last March, Jay suggested we conduct a national search to find an ideal candidate,” said John A. Courson, MBA’s Chief Operating Officer.  “After months of interviewing many well-qualified candidates, it became apparent that the best candidate already worked at MBA and we approached Jay to take the job

Jay brings a unique set of qualifications to the position that will serve the mortgage industry well,” continued Courson.  Beyond having a firm grasp of the fundamental drivers of the economy and the real estate industry, both single-family and commercial/multifamily, Jay has an intimate knowledge of mortgage company business operations and business models.  And perhaps most importantly, Jay’s background in finance brings a capital markets perspective to the position that will be invaluable to the industry as we work through the challenges now facing the secondary markets

Prior to joining the MBA, Brinkmann worked for Fannie Mae in the portfolio strategy and credit pricing areas.  He was previously on the business school faculty of the University of Houston where he specialized in the regulation of financial institutions and teaching commercial bank management after having worked in the commercial lending division of Premier National Bank in Louisiana.  He also served as the Deputy of Chief of Staff for Louisiana Governor David C. Treen and was Treen’s press secretary during Treen’s years in the House of Representatives.

The revised curriculum consists of required and flexible components: the required elements being accounting, corporate finance, leadership, marketing, operations, statistics and strategy, whilst the flexible core allows participants to select one course from each of three categories – organisations, performance and markets.

An additional feature of the revised core is a non-credit corporate governance module, aimed at enhancing understanding of students’ responsibilities as managers and directors of companies, as well as understanding the importance of corporate governance in all aspects of business.

“The innovative transformation of the core curriculum provides students with foundational expertise in preparation for electives, internships and master classes, “ says Glenn Hubbard, dean of the school.

Courson singled out Brinkmann’s background in capital markets work that he said “will be invaluable to the industry as we work through the challenges now facing the secondary markets.”

In an odd twist, given where his predecessor went, Brinkmann worked for Fannie Mae in the portfolio strategy and credit pricing areas prior to joining the MBA. He holds a doctorate in finance from Purdue University, an MBA from Tulane University and an undergraduate degree from The George Washington University.
